Beautyfluent by Hope- Collagen The Low Down September 2022
We see the supplements everywhere we go but what is the hype all about? You may wonder and this buzzword so let’s break it down. Collagen isn’t new to us it is the most abundant protein in the body but as we age the body naturally makes less aka the slow-down. This usually starts to happen in our mid 20’s and processes from there.
Sings of collagen loss are stiff joints, weight gain, dull hair, sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles, loss of elasticity in the skin, teeth and digestion problems. No bueno for sure!

Types of collagen
While there are 28 types of collagen we are mostly concerned with just 3 but we will cover the top 5 .

Type I is your go to for skin, hair and nails and can help with the signs of aging like thin skin, sagging tissue, fine lines and wrinkles as well as help with bone and ligaments discomfort. Type I is mostly found in fish, marine, chicken and bovine. Although the marine collagen tends to have the most collagen and it is used in many cosmetic products.

Type II is for your immune system as well as supporting joint health. This type is also found in our stomach lining and plays a crucial role in the digestion system. Type II is found mostly in bovine

Type III is for cardiovascular health as well as joints and muscles and is often paired with types I & II. It is mostly found in bovine supplements.

Type V and X are important but less common. These two are power houses for cell membranes as well as women in the reproductive age groups. Both V and X help form bones and keep the placenta strong and healthy. These two are commonly found in eggshells, chicken and bovine.

When looking for a collagen supplement I personally look for one that includes vitamin C and is hydrolyzed. Which basically means that it is broken down into peptides and easy to digest. Collagen rich foods include eggs, fish, bell peppers, garlic, citrus fruit, berries and white tea just to name a few. I have found the easiest way for me to get my collagen is in my morning coffee but I am happy to share this Wonderfull recipe I found from eatingbirdfood.com. I may just give it a try!

Wishing you wellness!
